Always tried to make us laugh with his jokes. Telling us he had got up early to bake the cake which he had bought from the shop. His favourite day was pancake day. He gave the children a shiny coin when they said goodbye. He was the ultimate role model of resilience and dealing with adversity. A WW2 veteran serving his country in the Battle of the Atlantic and D-Day. He just kept going walking miles every day and appreciating everything he had.
